Son of Henry Berthelet and Marie Josette Bouchet and grandson of Pierre Berthelet dit Savoyard and Marie Francoise Meloche, born in Detroit Nov. 15, 1808; married in Sandwich, Elizabeth Marie Parent, Nov. 6, 1835. He died in Detroit and was buried, Apr. 3, 1883. They had two children. In the 1830s he was clerk of the sutler of Fort Towson; and in 1847 was appointed postmaster of Coatsville, Ark.
